History

The process of "preserving" flowers in this special way was invented in 1991 in France. The French Velmont company was developed after a cooperative study for ten years with The Belgian Brussels University and the German Berlin University. These flowers quickly gained recognition and established their position as excellent alternatives to fresh flowers. The market for this kind of flowers has been growing, especially in Europe and Japan where they are popular gifts.

How to make preserved flowers?

When a flower is ready to bloom, preserved flowers are then harvested, have their sap removed, and then they are dry-cleaned. They are given a processing liquid based on a low-grade alcohol such as methanol or ethanol for dehydration and bleaching. When they are dry, if the flower is colored, it is injected with a harmless dye, glycerin and high-quality ether. This is used as a nonvolatile and breathable solvent. The dried flower is finished and looks fresh. It's natural beauty and softness is preserved forever, and cannot be distinguished from a fresh flower.
